Rebranding The Blog Sibila Ribeiro Way

Did I mention that I stopped blogging for three months? Oh yes, I did. It somehow gives me time to contemplate and reflect on what I did to my blogs (o yes, with ‘s’ if you don’t know yet). I am coming back to THE BIG WHY.

I initially wanted to refresh the look of my blog, I am already bored with grey color, so I registered for a 5 days course on website building by Sibila Ribeiro. (Make sure you check her website, do the quiz, and reveal… the inner you)

It is interesting that Sibila has a different, more structured method on finding the Big Why. Before the day of the live class, she sent us a worksheet, and a short recorded lesson. After the session, there are simple tasks that you need to do to build your website. Also QnA session with Sibila if you are still struggling about what to do. I love the overall course. The worksheets are especially the ones that helps me a lot on rebranding my blogs.

If you read about what I wrote on the Big Why in the beginning of the Blogspedia Coaching, my big whys still revolve around ‘me’. Sibila shift my point of view, that when we make a website, we communicate with our target readers, we need to think about the people we are writing to:
  • Who are they? What do they do for a living?
  • What are they struggling with?
  • What do they hope to achieve?
And the most important is:
  • How can my website help them?
Answering these questions instantly gave me energy to continue and to not stop. THERE ARE PEOPLE who need your help.

Sibila suggested that we use the worksheets to guide us throughout the entire process of the website making. It helps us to be committed.

On Day 2, the course focused on the moodboard. A set of colors, visuals, fonts, etc that we are going to use in the website. Sibila emphasises that we always use the same set of colors and fonts. If you are worried that you cannot pick a color, don’t worry. It happened to me, too, that’s why I enrolled myself in the course. Sibila provides us with a quiz about visual branding. She gave some guides based on the quiz result that we did previously.

The moodboard is absolutely very important because we need to be consistent when we do branding. It is similar to how a baby is happy when everything is consistent.

In the next three days, Sibila started explaining technical aspects: domain, hosting, plugins (yes, the course was based on Wordpress), money making, etc. To be honest, I still need to absorb those, since I mainly use blogspot.

All in all, if you are thinking about refreshing your blog or starting a new website, go back to your big why. Take a moment to reflect. Don’t be afraid. Be consistent with your branding.
